PASTON Syrup

Composition :
Each 5 ml. Contains :
Ferric Ammonium Citrate I.P. 159.99mg
Folic Acid I.P. 0.501mg
Cyanocobalamin I. P. 7.5mg

ACTION & USE :
Ferric ammonium citrate is used as a rich source of iron for iron deficiency anemia. It is given by month and is frequently used in liquid dosage form and helps improving hemopoetic factors.

Folic Acid is a member of Vitamin B group, acting as a co-enzyme for various metabolic process. Folic acid is used in the treatment and prevention of anemic conditions. It is also used in women of child –bearing potential and pregnant women to protect against neural tube defects in their offspring.

Cyanocobalamine (Vit B12) deficiency leads to megaloblastic anemia and other neurological damage. A specific anemia know as pernicious anemia develops in patients with disturbed absorption of Vitamin B12 from dietary sources. It is also closely involved with folic acid, important metabolic pathways.

INDICATION :
Iron deficiency anemia, chronic blood loss, post operative anemia convalescene perid, during pregnancy and lactation and other forms of anemia.

DOSAGE :
Adult –3 teaspoonful (1 tablespoonful) – twice daily with the principle meals.
Children – Proportionately less, or as advised by the physician.

PABAPLEX Tablet
(Vitamin B-Complex tablet)

Composition :
Each film-coated tablet contains:
Vitamin B1 I.P. 10 mg.
Vitamin B2 I.P. 10 mg.
Vitamin B6 I.P. 3 mg.
Vitamin B12 I.P. 15 mcg.
Vitamin C (Coated) I.P. 150 mg.
Niacinamide I.P. 100 mg.
Calcium Pantothenate I.P. 50 mg.
Folic Acid I.P. 1.5 mg
Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate U.S.P. 61.8 mg.
Equivalent to 22.5 mg. of elemental zinc.

Properties of vitamin B-complex and other compounds :

Vitamin B1 - It is know as Thiamine Hydrochloride. It promotes growth and has a stimulating effect on appetite. It is a co – enzyme and hence participates in the carbohydrate metabolism. It is essential for normal functioning of nerve tissues and muscular tissues. Its deficiency leads to Beriberi, anorexia, muscle weakness, peripheral polyneuritis and mental disorder.

Vitamin B2 - It is know as Riboflavin. It is necessary for maintenance of healthy mucousal membrane and helps normal function of visual apparatus. It stimulates growth of young organism and promote their general health. Its deficiency causes stomatitis, chilosis, glossitis, and neurological disorder and also disquamation of skin.

Vitamin B6 – It is know as Pyridaxine Hydrochloride and a member of Vitamin B – complex group. It, is essential to prevent edema and interferes in lipid metabolism. In combination with other vitamins it keeps the skin in normal condition. It also a co-enzyme in several metabolic function. Deficiency results in lesions of the skin, eye, nose and mouth. Convulsion and seizures may be due to the deficiency of Vitamin B6.

Vitamin B12 - It is also know as Cyanocobalamin, is essential for DNA synthesis, especially is red blood cell formation. It is used in treating pernicious anemia, megaloblastic anemia etc.
Niacinamide- It is a soluble Vitamin, in B- complex group and is also know as Nicotinamide. It helps in transfer of oxygen from the blood to the tissue for oxidation of food and plays an important role in carbohydrate metabolism. It acts as a co-enzyme in the oxidation and reduction of tissue regeneration. Deficiency results in three ‘D’ Syndrome i.e. Dermatitis, Diarrhoea and Dementia, also causes dizziness, insomnia, pellagra etc.

Calcium pantothenate
It serves as a co- factor a variety of enzyme –catalysed reactions involving transfer of acetyl groups. Deficiency leads fatigue, headache, sleep disturbances, nausea, abdominal cramp, muscle cramps and impaired co-ordination.

Folic Acid
It is a member of the B-complex group and soluble in water. This Vitamin plays a vital role in preventing megaloblastic anemia and as a result red blood cell will not mature to normal R.B.C if it not present in adequate quantity.

Zinc Sulphate
Zinc is an essential element and helps in many ways. It hastens wound healing, improves appetite, hastens protein biosynthesis improves immunity, prevents gonadal atrophy and foetal abnormalities. It facilitates conversion of proinsulin to insulin.

Vitamin C – It is know as Asscorbic acid, a factor necessary for formation of collagen in connective tissues and essential in maintenance of integrity of intercellular cement in many tissues, especially capillary walls. Vitamin C deficiency leads to scurty.

Indication :
Pabaplex tablet hastens healing of wounds after burns and surgery, as an adjuvant in antibiotic therapy, lethargy, loss of libido. Hastens protein biosynthesis, Improves immunity, Restores health, and other Vitamin B complex deficiency like glossitis or stomatitis.

Dosage :
One tablet daily.

It is an important component of phospholipids. It is responsible for affecting the mobilization of fat from the liver cells as lipotropic action. It is claimed to reduce the fat contents of the liver.

Lysine Hydrochloride :
It is an amino acid that is hydrolytic cleavage product of digested protein. It is essential for growth and repair of tissues. It also improves appetite as it stimulates the appetite center.

Sorbitol :
Sorbitol is not digested but is hydrolysed to lactic acid, pyruric acid by coliforms and produce an acid pH which has a mild stimulating effect upon colonic muscle. Fulid thereafter accumulates in the colon which facilitates soft stool formation followed by its excretion.

Indication :
Vitamin B complex deficiency like glossitis or Stomatitis, as preventive in old age, ailments caused due to vitamin deficiency. Improves appetite due to presence of Lysine. Prevents fatty infiltration in liver due to choline.


Ideal preparation for children and during pregnancy and lactation and also suitable for patients having liver dysfunction as it is free from alcohol.

Dose :
5 ml two to three times a day or as advised by the physician.
